It is hard to believe that one year has passed since the dedication of Zion’s newly restored organ in September 2014! The memory of the festive Dedication Service and Organ Recital by Erich Plutz remains a highlight of Zion history. Opportunities to hear the vibrant sound of the organ continue, with inspiring organ preludes and postludes played every Sunday by Zion’s talented organist, John Heizer. At the recent Organ Recital on October 11, 2015, Ms. Lizao Wang, Master’s Student at Peabody Institute, played an impressive program of organ music by Peter Eben, J.S. Bach, Calvin Hampton, Frank Bridge, Louis Vierne, and C.M. Widor. Zion’s organ was also showcased with two stirring selections during intermission at the Hamburg Choir Concert on October 24, 2015. We are grateful to all who attended these events and supported the free will offerings which benefited the Organ Fund.

Fundraising efforts for Zion’s organ continue to support the re-payment of the organ loan. We had generous earnings from tip money and sales of collectible Bier Steins at the recent Sour Beef Dinners. Currently, a raffle to benefit the Organ Fund is underway for the valuable prize of an authentic Christmas Pyramid imported from Germany. The prize drawing will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Christkindlmarkt.
Zion is also proud to announce the return of the popular Beef Rouladen Dinner in 2016! Mark your calendars now for a Gala Fundraiser Event scheduled on April 16, 2016, featuring an organ recital by well-known local organist Henry Lowe, followed by a festive authentic German dinner in the parish hall. Reservations for this special event will begin in January 2016.

Zion Church greatly appreciates the ongoing contributions in support of the Organ Fund, which we continue to receive from our generous members and friends. It is our hope that you will consider Zion’s Organ Fund in your end-of-year giving. Your gift is dedicated solely for the organ loan payment and will enable Zion to continue its tradition of fine music.

Thank You for your continued support of the Zion Organ Fund!
