The start of this New Year is an opportunity to express heartfelt thanks on behalf of Zion Church for the generosity of our members and friends for your continued support of the Organ Fund in 2015. With over $29,000 in contributions throughout the year, Zion was able to meet its monthly organ loan commitments. We are also grateful for the generous public support of our fundraising events and activities that benefit the Organ Fund, such as the Hamburg Choir Concert, the Christkindlmarkt raffle, and proceeds donated by Christkindlmarkt vendors.
Music at Zion
It is hard to believe that one year has passed since the dedication of Zion’s newly restored organ in September 2014! The memory of the festive Dedication Service and Organ Recital by Erich Plutz remains a highlight of Zion history. Opportunities to hear the vibrant sound of the organ continue, with inspiring organ preludes and postludes played every Sunday by Zion’s talented organist, John Heizer. At the recent Organ Recital on October 11, 2015, Ms. Lizao Wang, Master’s Student at Peabody Institute, played an impressive program of organ music by Peter Eben, J.S.
Dear Zion Members and Friends,
After a decade of planning and five years of intense fundraising, Zion is proud to have its new pipe organ fully restored and in regular use every Sunday. During the summer, the installation of the final components for the 32-foot Trombone and Subbass digital pipes by Virtuoso completed the organ restoration. Our worship services are once again richly enhanced with the vibrant sound of the new instrument, providing inspirational support for our congregational singing.
Fall 2014 is here, and so that means that everything is or has started up for the season, and a busy season it appears it will be. The choir will be returning September 21th for the special bi-lingual organ dedication service. So that gives me an opportunity to remind you of the importance of the St. Cecilia Fund.
